about irish community food growing

Irish Community Food Growing (ICFG) is an All-Ireland network of Community Food Initiatives (CFIs) – community gardens, allotments, school gardens, education gardens and market gardens.  This website is an information portal for the Network and the public which allows people to become informed, to share their knowledge and to engage with community food growing initiatives in their local area.

The Network was formed in December 2008 in response to the growing number of CFIs throughout the Island. It is clear that there is a mounting need to share information and combine forces to have greater lobbying power towards Government to help establish appropriate training courses and secure funding sources.  The Network is coordinated by S.O.U.L. Food Growing Communities (All Ireland), The Organic Centre in Leitrim, Healthy Food for All and Dublin Food Growing.

This initiative was inspired by the British Council’s climate change project, Challenge Europe.
